TransFER Budapest–Neuss becomes TransFER Budapest–Duisburg

ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is moving its high-frequency TransFER connection between Hungary and Germany from Neuss to Duisburg.

Budapest and Duisburg are two central hubs for European rail freight. Budapest – a major hub in Central Europe – offers seamless connections to the Southern and South-Eastern European market thanks to its location. The BILK terminal acts as an important hub, enabling connections not only to Western Europe but also to Eurasia.

Duisburg – one of the world’s largest inland ports and an important logistics centre in Germany – plays a key role in the handling and distribution of goods within Europe, with direct access to the entire European rail network.

Efficient and flexible transport solutions

The new non-stop connection between Budapest and Duisburg for intermodal flows of goods offers customers many logistical advantages. With a fixed timetable and attractive transit times, this TransFER ensures fast and reliable freight transport – sustainably by rail. Five round trips per week offer flexible planning and high frequency. In addition to the direct connection between Budapest and Duisburg, the TransFER enables seamless connections to other terminals in Austria, Hungary and Turkey.

Various loading units are available for the transport of goods, including 20-ft, 30-ft, 40-ft and 45-ft containers, as well as swap bodies and trailers – including non-craneable ones. This versatility ensures that almost any type of cargo can be transported with TransFER Budapest–Duisburg, including dangerous goods (RID).
