- Decision of Italian authorities has an impact on the rail freight sector
- As of midnight freight wagons equipped with LL blocks (IB 116*) are only permitted to operate at 80 km/h instead of up to 120 km/h, or 60 km/h in case of dangerous goods
- We, the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group, are working at full speed to maintain the smooth flow of goods
Current situation
The Italian authority ANSFISA (Agenzia nazionale per la sicurezza delle ferrovie e delle infrastrutture stradali e autostradali) has issued a decision that affects the entire rail freight sector.
As of today, 09.11.2021, freight wagons equipped with LL blocks (IB 116*) may only operate at 80 km/h instead of the previously permitted up to 120 km/h. If the train is loaded with dangerous goods, 60 km/h are allowed. Our logistics experts have taken all possible measures in advance, but delays in our TransFER connections may still occur.
We have been working hard for quiet and sustainable freight transport. We therefore deeply regret the decision of the Italian authorities.
Rest assured, however: We are working at full speed to guarantee the ongoing flow of goods and to ensure that your shipments reach their destination on time.
What is more, we are joining forces with our partners and raising our voice in European committees. This is our responsibility. Together for the entire sector.
We will of course keep you informed about further developments.
