TransFER Sopron–Bucharest: A decade on the rails of success

With its TransFER between Western Europe and Romania, ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) provides reliable transport and logistics services for the Romanian economic area – environmentally friendly by rail since 2014.

With the TransFER Sopron–Bucharest, RCG transports all types of goods in conventional wagonload traffic and in containers, including dangerous goods (RID), between Western and Southern Europe and the industrial area of Bucharest with two round trips per week and in just 48 hours. Single wagonload consignments from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy are combined into block trains in Sopron and transported to Romania. Antenna connections are also possible.

An efficient, reliable and time-saving logistics solution

Since its launch in 2014, the TransFER has evolved into a product that goes far beyond mere transport. RCG manages the entire process from collection to delivery and ensures reliability and efficiency. If required by the customer, RCG will also store the goods at any final destination, ensuring a seamless delivery. The success story of the TransFER connection through Hungary and Romania also includes innovation and flexibility – RCG is constantly striving to improve the transport of goods by sustainable rail, thus strengthening trade links between Western and Southern Europe.
